somethin about evans though he the party pooper , i think this is bones biggest test as rashad is very confident and believes in himself to the max were some fighters are beat when gettin in the ring with jones cos he is just so naturally mega talented and clinical with the size, power ,technical skills , unorthodox skills, and serious agility he got so many weapons , question ov can rashad take him down enough , control and outstrike or knockout bones big question marks for me , fascinating though i cant wait to find out

(2)

28 Feb 2012 20:38:24
that was a hard fight to call , i thought henderson won on most effective strikes and telling blows , but edgar prob mite just have got more strikes in with minimal damage if he was same size as henderson things mite have been different, edgar has the heart ov a lion though , but i am happy henderson won he very good to watch and is a warrior of god , very good fights in that division anthony pettis, nate diaz , clay guida to say the least, future fight gsp vs henderson or some ov the above sounds funky to me. next issue rashad vs bones jones , what we saying ??

(0)
(0)

If rashad can take jon jones down then the whole fight changes perspective i think its clinical on whos the stronger guy in this fight my moneys on bones but its his 3-4 defense it'l be hard to maintain consistency in that division

another attempt at starting up a discussion, since my last one went well...... henderson vs edgar who will win, i think henderson. ........ discuss

(2)
(1)

After seeing most of edgars fights and a few of hendersons i would have to say its frankies fight he looks the real deal great wrestler hes nice with the hands his work rate is unreal not to mention his foot work but then again this is the ufc 1 punch can change everything but my money would be on edgar dont think hendersons ready yet could be wrong though

Andyjmt

(1)
(1)

Henderson has looked amazing in UFC! Very hard to submit and is always looking to finish! Seen his fight with pettis in wec and it was a gd fight 2 been disappointed with Pettis so far in UFC! But think Henderson is ready and he will b a lot bigger than edger on sat! Edger losses but goes dwn to figh aldo?

(2)
(1)

Yaay it worked again i started another discussion we need to keep using this or it will go

anyway my moneys o henderson frankies good and cn take alot of punishment, but henderson has officialy been named the hardest fighter in the ufc to submit he has failed to tap in 28 attempted submisions and he is huge for his weight man i a machine. and he says his cardio hasnt been compromised. def henderson ftw

Talk about a stitch up Bisping should have won that fight last night against sonnon all the commentators had him winning by a point and one of the judges said he never won a round!!!!!!!!!! even Dana White couldnt believe it and becoz of the result he doesnt get his title shot at silva now.( not saying he would have won but im sure that he would have been better than silvas last opponents.........

(5)
(0)

I agree bisping well had those 1st two rounds, hate sonnen, really looking forward to condit vs diaz as u saw by my earlier post

gunner&atim

(1)
(0)

Bisping was robbed, no two ways about it. Clearly won the first 2 rounds in my opinion, the only thing Sonnen managed to do for the first 10 minutes was take him down and let Bisping get straight back up.

I never really liked Bisping until that fight, he had obviously trained his ass off in preparation for the biggest fight of his life, and his comments about Sonnen before the fight showed me he has a lot of respect for the sport and has no time for crazy buggers bringing it down by walking about with fake belts and referring to themselves in the 3rd person. Hope Silva destroys that potato-headed nutjob.

man no one uses this anymore was hoping for big discussions so i will attmpt to start one diaz vs condit i think (and hope) diaz gets smashed ...discuss

gunner&atim

(3)
(0)

Think diaz ko condit in fight of the night! Diaz is a bit of a dick but I like him! Diaz bigger beter boxing and well beter groud! Condit is gd and niver gives up so wil b gr8 fight! Big Roy to get ko of night?

(0)
(0)

I agree about fight of the night, i would love to see condit smash diaz i really dont like him great fighter as you said both the diaz brothers are but just hate the both of them lol

gunner&atim

(2)
(0)

Well Diaz condit was crap! Condit came to win a decision and not to fight! Diaz wun 1st 2nd and 5th! 3rd and 4th close! Would like a rematch but at end of the day diaz should have tried to get the fight to the ground earlier! His corner telling him he was winning. ... That was daft! Big Roy got battered but he always comes to fight! Werdum looked best ave seen him! Mir vs werdum next?

(2)
(2)

I have to admit, I liked Nick Diaz just because he is such a good fighter, and his crazy antics and chat meant you were always talking about him, but I lost all respect for him after he spat the dummy and claimed he was retiring because he lost. I watched the fight with the missus last night, and we both agreed that Condit did enough to win it. I think Diaz's style of taking a little bit of power off his punches hurt him in this fight because he didn't connect nearly as often as he usually does, so there was practically no damage to Condit. I knew he's whine about losing the fight, but to give up totally because of it reeks of immaturity.

but the winner gets a match against junior dos santos for the belt

man that would be a killer match with lesnar

BUT NEVER KNOW MAYBE THIS OVEREEM IS THE NEXT BIG THING

We want Silva vs Jones it's wot the whole world wants so give us it

(4)
(5)

Don't think Jones is ready yet still learning, it is interesting that silva fought at l/h and then moved back down.

(1)
(4)

They need to make this fight happen its wot ppl wanna see Jones is a mirror image an it needs to happen please Dana white ur the boss so make it sooner rather than later

(1)
(3)

Dana already said this fight never going to happen ... in press conference for Evans vrs Davis , he said the spider is 37 and people forget that, and already has his next 2 possible opponents arranged if everyone wins fights and stays injury free

(3)
(0)

The spider may be 37 but look at Couture he was still dominating at 43 and hopkins in Boxing 46 so for a true athlete he should still have at least 3-4 years left at th top level so why cant the fight happen although you have to favour Jones with the natural size on his side although i feel skill wise no one touches the spider.

(1)
(2)

Jones v Silva will never happen, Jones is a lot bigger than Silva for a start. He's already said he wants to go to HW within a few years so to make a catchweight fight between him and Silva mean 195lbs which will not happen. Silva is ending his career whereas Jones is just starting, it's unfortunate because I'd love to see them both fight in their primes against one another, even though you could argue that Silva is looking better than ever, this fight will not happen.

(3)
(1)

Yea it wont happen but ufc shude do every thing they can to make it happen

i know it aint a mixed martial art but is wing chun gd jus for general self defence??

(0)
(4)

Krav Maga is probably one of the best for self defence, its quick and teaches you to leave the scene as quickly as possible scanning for threats, there are other arts you can learn once you have mastered this that will compliment it, ie Boxing, Muay Thai, JU Jitsu. Any Martial Art or fight based training would give you a confidence that would more than likely stop the chavs and bullies from making you feel the need to learn how to defend yourself

(3)
(0)

Is wing chun good for CQC? {Ed001's Note - that is what it is designed for, so it should be!}

Do any of us ufc fans think bisping has a chance against anderson silva? I don't think so. It would be great 2 have a british ufc champion but did you see what silva did to forrest griffin? I don't think bisping is half the fighter griffin is. I hope he proves me wrong and beats him but I just can't see it. Oh bisping has just signed an eight fight contract with ufc so he's going to be round a while.

(4)
(0)

Bisping has no chance against the Spider!! He always falls at the elite fighters.

KevyBhoy

(4)
(1)

Bispings a good fighter but hes not in champion shape, anderson silva not only has a supreme boxing advantage but the use of his unpredictable kicks and moves make him virtually impossible to stop hes the best fighter ive ever seen moat consecutive aswell long live the spider! Respect to bisping for destroying that big headed yank

(4)
(0)

Hope bisping gets his ass whooped. I lived in clitheroe and Hung around in same niebourhood and grew up with him beating on my mates. He was a bully but was hard and no one messed. Can't believe the bloke has made it so big when he was a rite nob when he was younger.

Matty b

(0)
(1)

I felt Bisping was to strong for Miller although i've enjoyd watching Miller on Ultimate fighter rather than Bisping and as for Bisping fighting Spider i'd rather see Spider fight Bones as they have similar styles
Cleav81

(0)
(1)

Well Bisping is fighting Damien Maia first, if he beats him he'll have another top MW first, possibly the loser of the Sonnen v Munoz fight. If he overcomes those two fights then he'll be in line for a title shot. Personally I think he'll beat Maia and become a top 5 MW but he'll get no higher. He's not as good as 1. A Silva 2. Sonnen 3. Munoz 4. Belfort 5. W Silva so he needs the Maia win.

(0)
(0)

Bisping is a good solid fighter, but he will never have that belt, he just isnt quite good enough against the top class opponents... Miller was a missmatch on what planet did anyone think miller would win, DIAZ DIAZ DIAZ DIAZ, gonna be champ veeeery soon, he will fight every couple of months and defend the belt against GSP when he decides to man up

(1)
(1)

Diaz will never beat GSP, he's not in GSP's league as unfortunately no one in the WW division is.

(1)
(1)

Is ufc going payper view in britain?

(0)
(1)

What channel as I've checked every channel on Sky for next saturday and it's not advertised on any channel

(1)
(0)

It will never be PPV in the UK and if it was, it would fail miserably and wouldn't last long before being switched back to ESPN or similar.

Nobody is staying up til 3am in the morning and paying £40 or whatever, before even the first fight has started. Zuffa would see the viewing figures drop drastically, if this wasn't the case they would have definitely tried implementing it already.

Think about it - any UFC card in the Uk airs free for American audiences due to the time difference, so vice-versa. Luckily for us, we got to see about 20 free 'PPV' events a year while the Yanks get maybe 1 if the UFC decide to visit these shores!

Well my seven year old lad met Joe Lewis & Bill Wallace tonight, had an hours Martial arts session with them and had his Orange belt signed by them both. He had pictures done with them and they are decent blokes. I really wanted to ask Joe about Bruce Lee, but I felt the moment was more about him and Bill, so I never asked.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - I am so jealous Syd, those are two of my all time heroes!}

(0)
(2)

Seriously Ed? If I had your mobile number one hour ago you could have spoken to them. My missus is with them now, I had to get my daughter to bed so had to take her home, Joe is doing his bit now, she's just text me. I think she means he is doing his moves? Not sure what she means exactly. Did you know Joe has a brain tumor mate?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - yeah I read about it, such a shame, he has always come across as a great guy. Shame he never got the fame he deserved.}

(0)
(1)

He is a nice bloke, Bill Wallace grabbed my boy and chucked him on his shoulders, grabbed his hands and started punching another famous bloke with them. I didn't get his name but my missus thinks it's something Smith. Does that ring any bells? My sons sensai is Simon Hengle, have you heard of him? He is pretty well know too.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - Tora Academy? Is that the right one? That is right down south isn't it? He is a Kukri specialist isn't he? I am very much into weapons, not so much to use, but the mechanics and techniques of use and the look of them as well. They can be a work of art. I would guess the other guy would be Jeff Smith (or is it Geoff?), they were the big 3 of Karate if I remember rightly. It is a little before my time to be honest, but I used to watch videos of them all the time.}

(0)
(1)

Yes mate, I think it might be Jeff Smith, you are also correct about my boy's Sensei, he is a well known man in the world of martial arts apparently. I wanted to ask them if the Bruce Lee move where you can pull out an heart was 'In theory' possible. Joe trained with Bruce Lee regularly early on in his career so it may have come up in conversation? I guess my boys Sensei may know the answer to that? Perhaps it's only me that cares ;)

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - that is an old move Syd, was a part of a number of older forms of Kung Fu, there are numerous stories of it being used in combat. Hard to verify any of those stories though. It could well be like most of the stories regarding the Ninja and be 'enhanced' to build up the fear factor. There have always been a few real masters of the arts that could do things others can't though anyway. It certainly should be possible, a number of tests have proven that the Shaolin Monks are capable of things the human body is not supposed to be scientifically capable of.}

(0)
(0)

I watched a programme where it said that it was 'In theory' possible as the blow will crack the sternum and the fingers will gauge open the whole, then the rest is easy, but they reckon it could be done, but you would need to be extremely quick & powerful. They also said that much practice would have needed to be done, meaning some poor buggers or animals being the guinea pigs.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - hard style Kung Fu involves a lot of practice of breaking things, building up calluses etc. A practitioner of one of those should be very capable of doing it. I remember, when I was younger, I used to spend hours jabbing with my fingers against bricks to harden them up. I wonder if I would have ever bothered if Football Manager had been around back then!}

(0)
(0)

Good one Ed ;)

My missus and lad is still up there, it was meant to have finished at 7:30pm and they are still up there now with the kiddies. I think that says it all about these lads.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - if only there were more like them around now.}

(0)
(0)

Definitely mate, well back to football :)

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - you should have interviewed them for the site!}

(0)
(0)

They had around 30 kids and perhaps 20 adults to chat to who train up there, then there were the parents. I couldn't have taken up too much of their time individually. Nice to shake their hands and chat to them though. It will mean a lot to my son when he grows up and realises who he has had the chance to meet. The fact that they are Americans makes it more special as it's hard to meet them unless you travel there.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - how are they looking anyway? I bet Joe Lewis has lost loads of weight by now, he used to be a big guy! He was always the bad guy to Chuck Norris's good guy for some reason, never understood why, he looked like an all-American guy, the kind they normally love.}

(0)
(0)

Joe Lewis is still very stocky, still a V shape. Bill is short and thin, Jeff has his own school in the US. Joe is very strict, whereas Bill is a joker and plays with the kids. Missus and lad have just come back, I have seen the signed belt, but Bill's is signed by his nick name, cannot make it out. But £35 well spent IMO, that pays towards their travel.

Take care Ed

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - Bill Wallace is Superfoot Syd, I can't believe you haven't heard that!!!}

(0)
(0)

I wont lie to you mate, I had only ever heard of Joe Lewis before a week ago. I made out the S & U, but then it was a bit of a squiggle from there on.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - I always assumed he was world famous! If not in his own right for the fight with Ali and the association with Bruce Lee.}

(0)
(0)

Did he fight Ali? I had no idea about that.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - they did an exhibition bout, not sure how true it is but there was supposed to be genuine needle there because the organisers wanted Lewis to throw the fight. Before my time though, so I am not sure if that is just a story.}

(0)
(0)

I could find out if it's a tour that they are doing mate? I could find out if they are hitting a Martial arts hut near you? They are friends of my sons Sensei so they may just be visiting, I will find out mate.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - yeah, if you could that would be great, even if I can't get along to see them it would be nice to advertise it for them.}

Shogun wants rematch with hendo straight away I don't think this shud happen immediately cos they had one of the greatest fights of all time and if they fight straight away people will compare it 2 that one and will and will start sayin negative comments bout the fighters if it doesn't live up 2 the expectations of the last one they shud each have a few different fights then maybe have another fight with each other

Not sure - Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson are both in a tough spot; they have lost convincingly to the champ, are capable of beating ANYONE else considered a contender and have made a lot of noise about moving to Flyweight.

I see Joe B and Johnson kept as far away from the title places as possible maybe even kept on the shelf til a 125lbs division is brought in (no need for it, IMO, too many divisions).

I'd like to see Nick Diaz beat GSP, not because I like Diaz as a person, but i'm so bored of watching GSP's fights these days. As the champion, he's stopped fighting to win, and is fighting not to lose. It leads to very boring fights, which is disappointing because I used to be a big GSP fan. Diaz to win the title, and maybe shake GSP up a wee bit and get him back to his former self. Feel really bad for Carlos Condit though, fair enough he wasn't originally the no.1 contender, but to get the chance to fight for the title, and then lose that chance because the champ got injured is such a shame. Hopefully he'll get a title shot after his next fight.

Think the deal is to replace the deal they had with Versus in the USA.

For some reason i can't comment on the Ed's comment below this one!

Ed, you sound like an actual fight fan so there's no way you can be lumped into the crowd that just don't like seeing real fights. But to suggest that it isn't real? COme on man, the Fertittas have SO MUCH to lose if it came out that UFC fights were fixed, what with them being kingpins in Vegas and all.

Also, I can't think of anyone who would willingly allow another man to disfigure them for 15mins, shatters bones in their face, if it wasn't a real fight.

There's a reason the muay thai fighters and kickboxers don't 'let themselves go' or are 'holding back' - and you've already hit the nail on the head.

It's amazing what fearing a takedown followed by a submission can do to one's striking prowess. You can't simply let fly like you can in a K1 or muay thai bout, you'll have your legs whipped from under you every time.

I do agree though, that the rules are swayed in the favour of certain fightrs......but its not BJJ guys.

It's wrestlers. American wrestlers. the rule-set gives them some major advantages, so in this respect I agree, it does seem a bit less 'unbiased' if you like when you consider the rules.

As for the Sonnen thing? I hate it. I agree ED, its far too WWE for my liking too and I hope that sort of thing doesn't keep on as a lot of true, dedicated fans like myself will walk away. I agree mate, sometimes I just wanna see a fight - but at the end of the day, every event (so every 2 weeks, approximately), the UFC put on 12 fights, and we get to see them all. That's what's most important.

RED_SKY {Ed001's Note - I do agree that a lot of the holding back is because they can't just go for it, but for me it spoils it. As for saying that it would ruin their rep if it was fixed, well boxing has been fixed for how long? I don't see that suffering because of it do you? Once a sport becomes a business with high stakes, then it is always open to corruption. When the prizes are small, there is little to corrupt as the competitors are almost all there for the love of it, rather than for any kind of financial gain.}

Ed 001 it sounds to me like you dont understand the ufc compared to boxing, to say the ufc may not be real was one of the most ridiculous statements i have possibly ever seen. The reason the ufc has bought up strikeforce wec so on is because they will all fight under the one name for the one title that will stop corruption from agents and the like. You sayit is favouritism towards bjj but look at the champions john jones wrestling, velazquez wrestling,Gsp now primarily a wrestler. edgar wresling, cruz wrestling, some of the greatest champs in ufc history were wresters cotoure, Hughes, ortiz. BTW what a crap main event this weekend supposedly the winner fights for a title what ajoke neither deserve a shot.DCG {Ed001's Note - actually I was talking about its inception, but you obviously didn't bother to read that. It was created purely to showcase BJJ, that is fact, not an opinion. As for suggesting it might not be real, don't the wrestling federations own everything in wrestling too? Doesn't make their fights real though does it? Keeping out agents just makes it easier to fix if anything.}

Well you must not watch the ufc fights then because epeople get hurt for real. Not wwe wwf bull. {Ed001's Note - people get hurt in the WWE all the time too.}

ED wat do u think of this "loser leaves town" challenge by Chael. When Brock Lesnar first debut the fans in America hated him for being a professional wrestler. But if the UFC get to this "Stipulation" is this making way for more story lines even though the fighting in the UFC is real. Chael Sonnen very funny concept but isn't the realness of all the UFC fights the fact that they put 2 equal guys in the ring and they punch each other. Winner gets hand raised. {Ed001's Note - personally I am not sure that the UFC is real anyway, fighting wise I mean. When you see a trained fighter in close to an opponent yet not using elbows, especially some of the Muay Thai fighters, you start to wonder if it is properly real. The show surrounding it has got so much, add storylines like this and it does make you wonder. I have never been that much of a fan of UFC anyway, the rules were deliberately designed to give BJJ an advantage when the Gracies set it all up. It was purely a showcase vehicle for their new style, I prefer to watch K1 and Muay Thai itself personally. I really wish they would just go back to basics and just show a fight between two guys. Sorry for rambling on, but it just seems the UFC guys are holding back to me, putting on a show, and this is just another step on the road to it ending up being just like wrestling.}

All Ufc main events will be 5 round regardless if it's a title fight or not from Ufc 137 I believe

(1)
(1)

Well it starts at UFC 138 in Birmingham, England. Munoz vs Leben. Winner is getting the next title shot after Stann Vs Sonnen winner.

I don't think it will be all main event fights. It'll be the ones that mean something. No1 contendership, big grudge matches. I know Bisping Vs Miller is a 5 rounder too.

Its all mate, its confirmed.
Shocking idea. 5 rounds was what differentiated a title fight from a 'normal' one.

They need to stop lining up contender for anderson that he has beaten convincingly apart from the mighty chael. Give us what we want Silva vs GSP at wembly

Got to admit i'm happy about this, Main Events should be set apart from the rest of the fights on the card, so it makes sense to me to make them 5-rounders even if there's no title involved. Been trying to figure out a way to do this in my WMMA2 game since I bought it, to no avail.

As an aside, I think Chael Sonnen has a bit of a cheek rattling off all these demands for his title fight with Anderson Silva, I can't see the UFC going for it unless Silva also demands it, and I can't see that happening either.

Sonnen has a rite to demand that match because he has just bea one of the top contenders in brian stan and also chail is a proven contender he has been out a while yes but when ur as good as sonnen you can not be ignored for too long anyway so this fight is going to happen after all silva fights who dana tells him to fight gsp v silva is a no go and there is moor chance of silve fighting bones jones its the only fight after sonnen

(0)
(0)

I agree he's probably the best contender in terms of skill, I was meaning the whole "move divisions or retire" nonsense he said at the end of his fight. For a man who hasn't fought for a year because of failed drugs tests and federal indiscretions, I think it's a bit rich. Still, I do enjoy his furious ramblings. I read somewhere that Silva's trainer says he only has 4 fights left in his career, and none of them will be against Sonnen if it's Silva's choice. I can guarantee that one of the last 2 will be against Bones Jones though, think that's why the UFC's running through all the LH contenders quite quickly.

To the poster below asking about the Manuwa / Chapman fight, soz I can't respond to you for some reason.....

.....well haven't seen Nick fight, but Manuwa's my tip to be the next big prospect to hit the UFC from the UK. Exciting style. Chapman seems to have a ground game though judging from his record, so could get interesting!

Manuwa, TKO, 2nd round for me!

How good could Mr Bones Jones get?
I personally think the guy's unbeatable!!
Such a clever fighter..

The mma world wanna see silva vs jones thats thee money maker

Don't you think Jones looked a little weak last night. He wasn't the same fighter we have seen before. He didn't bully Rampage like he did with previous opponents. It could have been the fact Rampage really is as strong as an Ox.

I think Silva would be a little too clever for Jones to be honest.

All5tars

(1)
(3)

Its well documented that Rampage is freakishly strong, physically, so I'm not surprised Jones didn't totally maul him.

But he did overwhelm him. The key to beating Bones is unclear right now, his reach and frame alone make it very difficult.

Of the current contenders, the only guy I think has a remote chance is Lyoto Machida...no fan of Machida but his karate-based style, elusiveness and pin-point accurate counter-strikes could be the key.

Not to mention Machida is a high-level BJJ player and the clincher, trained in sumo as a youth, making him ridiculously hard to take down, or keep down.

BUT.......this is my real tip.......if Jones is still champion in around 10-12months time (highly likely, he'll only fight once in that time IMO, against Rashad Evans).....

Alexander 'The Mauler' Gustafsson will give him the fight of his life, and might even beat him. Gus is taller (6ft 5in) very quick for a big man, more muscular, good chin and for MMA, great boxing with KO power.

If Gustafsson beats Matyushenko, he's 2 fights away from a shot IMO. He's only 24 as well, and Bones himself said after watching him beat Hamill:

"He's only 24?! Dang.......yeah, we're gonna fight one day!"
